Improved Athletic Performance With Chiropractic Care

One of the things I enjoy the most about being a chiropractor is the inspiration I get from my patients everyday. This has been especially true this summer with one of my most extraordinary patients Noah, an enthusiastic energetic middle-schooler. It’s always a thrill to work with my younger chiropractic patients, but Noah has been a joy to work with. He’s a very talented gymnast, truly loves his sport, and came into my office every week with so much energy around his sport that it was tough to keep up. The London Summer Olympics were a constant point of discussion and Noah told me he was very much looking forward to heading back to school in the fall and continue his gymnastics—which his family travels all over Maryland for competitions, practices, etc.

For this article, I couldn’t think of a better topic than highlighting Noah and his passion for his sport, especially with school and fall sports beginning for so many families. Hundreds of student-athletes of all ages will be hitting up the playing fields. With many of these sports, contact will be made—quick stops and starts, accelerations, decelerations, etc. Many positions played in these sports place the athlete in positions which put a lot of stress on the joints, spine, muscles, ligaments, tendons and nerves. These student-athletes bodies, and backs in particular, will be going through a lot over the next few weeks.

Chiropractic is a health care system which works with the structural integrity of the human frame, preventing injury, reducing the amount of time the student athlete is off the field and expediting the return to the playing field. Many student-athletes are not playing to their peak efficiency due to structural imbalance of the body. Chiropractic works directly with the musculoskeletal system, aligning the body properly, and chiropractors give special attention to the joints, spine, muscles, ligaments, tendons and nerves, helping the student-athlete keep the body functioning efficiently so the player enjoys peak performance and optimal health.
